New Features
Tuesday March 04, 2003
The number of models listed now totals more than 9500 and is growing faster than ever. A new feature which is sure to be useful to some is a filter system which enables users to combine various attributes and arrive at a more compact listing of models which satisfy all the criteria selected. A user could for instance show all front-engined V8 petrol turbocharged cars, or all 3 valves per cylinder automatic gearbox estates. These filters can be added or removed individually or all at once, and can be further refined by clicking on a manufacturer's name to show only models from that particular manufacturer that exhibit these characteristics. Try it out for yourself here.
Some other useful new features are a listing of the latest 250 entries into the database, as well as the latest 50 images added for the models.
A feature which has changed is the listed of books down the right-hand side of each page. For those of you familiar with the site, you may recall that that space used to list eBay auctions. We have decided to try out listing out-of-print and rare books in that space - all sold via an affiliate, ABEBooks.com. Hopefully you will find some books there that are interesting and useful. As used to be the case with the eBay listings, the list of books given on the page changes according to which section of the site you're in - whilst looking at the Porsche listing for instance, the books on the right will be mostly Porsche-related. Every purchase you make via the site helps Carfolio.com recoup our enormous investment in terms of time and resources. We will never charge for access to the data itself, so the revenue we earn as a result of you purchasing products via our affiliate links helps immensely.
The Classifieds section of the site has been neglected for a while now,but this has changed. A new drive to get ads placed and read is underway. Hurry over to http://www.carfolio.com/classifieds/ to place ads or find that special car you've been looking for. All ads are free, and the cost to place pictures alongside the text is negligible.
