Honda's screaming Civic Type R specifications released

The specifications of the latest red-badged Honda, the Civic Type R, have been released. Power and torque figures are much the same as the previous model, but delivery is said to be more linear throughout the rev range. Improvements to aerodynamics (not quantified by Honda), coupled with changes to the overall gearing, help to mitigate the heavier kerb weight.
With a 201 PS shove from the 2 litre DOHC i-VTEC engine, the 0-100 km/h sprint is over in 6.6 seconds, and the top speed is claimed to be 235 km/h. The engine transmits its power through a six speed manual gearbox. CO2 emissions are 215 g/km. The sportier looking body sits 15 mm lower than the standard Civics, and rides on 18 inch wheels shod with 225/40 profile rubber.
A lightweight Type R is in the pipeline. With various bits and pieces trimmed from the specification, the kerb weight drops by a claimed 40 kg. The standard Type R tips the scales at just over 1300 kg, which is already fairly light by modern standards.
