Porsche's Diesel Panamera gets moar powa!

The Diesel Panamera from Porsche just got a 50 PS power hike. Available from January 2014, the Panamera Diesel will produce 300 PS (221 kW) at 4000 rpm (250 PS/184 kW @ 3800-4400 rpm on the outgoing model) and 650 N·m (479 lb·ft) at 1750-2500 rpm. The three litre turbodiesel is mated to an eight speed Tiptronic gearbox, and for the first time, Porsche torque vectoring technology will feature as standard on the Diesel variant.
Despite being a gnat's hair over 5 metres in length and weighing 1900 kg at the kerb, the diesel engine has enough grunt to shunt this oil-burning Porsche saloon from standstill to 100 km/h in a claimed 6 seconds flat and on to a terminal velocity (strictly on ze autobahn, the lawyers remind you) of 259 km/h. CO2 emissions are up slighty from 164 g/km to 169 g/km, but it keeps it in the same tax bracket.
The Panamera Diesel is shod with 245/50 ZR 18 tyres up front and 275/45 ZR 18s on the rear, and stopping power is provided by ABS-equipped ventilated discs all round. The front discs are 360 mm in diameter, and the rears 330 mm.
When it is on sale in January 2014, the 300 PS version of the Porsche Panamera Diesel will cost €85 300 (including VAT) in Germany. Pricing in other markets is yet to be confirmed.
