Bugatti Veyron final specs
Sunday November 27, 2005
Bugatti have released what is likely to be the final specifications of their mega-uber-ultra-hyper-supercar, the Veyron. It appears as if the "EB" prefix has officially disappeared, the Veyron's name shortened to "Bugatti Veyron 16/4" - previous prototypes have been known as "Bugatti EB 16/4 Veyron" and "Bugatti EB 18/4 Veyron".
Power ouput remains at a distinctly incredible 1001 PS (736 kW), and the exterior dimensions are almost unchanged. Interestingly, kerb weight was not previously announced, but Bugatti have now revealed it to be 1888 kg, a little less than most were expecting. The drag coefficient is a very good 0.355, considering the need for cooling and high-speed stability.
Understandably, the performance figures are amazing. The 0-100 km/h sprint is claimed to take a scant 2.5 seconds, and the ultimate top speed of the Veyron has been established as 407 km/h. An air brake has been provided to help this brutal Bugatti slow down from these extreme speeds. Gigantic ventilated discs are fitted, the front pair 400 mm in diameter.
The drivetrain is of course a mid-mounted engine with a 7-speed "DSG" gearbox transmitting the power to all four wheels. Suspension is by double wishbones all-round, helping to keep all of this going in the direction it has been pointed.
