BMW M5 Touring - NAIAS 2007

For the first time in many years, BMW have released an estate version of the mighty M5 saloon. The 2007 BMW M5 Touring features the same specification as the saloon version, but has the extra rear door and load space for practicality. The last Touring version of the M5 was the E34 BMW M5 Touring from 1994.
A slight increase in the total drag (cD x frontal area) from 0.701 to 0.723 and an increase in weight from 1830 to 1955 kg leaves the staggering performance of the M5 intact. BMW claims a 0.1 second degradation in 0-100 km/h sprint time, down to 4.8 seconds. The standing kilometre takes 0.2 seconds longer, now claimed to be 22.9 seconds. The electronically-limited top speed remains 250 km/h.
The engine is completely unchanged, the V10 twin cam 4 valve per cylinder motor produces an identical 507 PS (373 kW) at 7750 rpm and 520 Nm (384 lbft) at 6100 rpm. The rear wheels and tyres are slightly smaller, at 9.0 x 19 and 275/35 ZR 19. This is the fastest way to haul your load around, folks!
