Seat Ibiza Ecomotive: 99 g/km carbon dioxide emissions

Following its debut at this year's Frankfurt motor show, Seat is beginning to sell the Seat Ibiza Ecomotive, a full-size hatchback that manages a very impressive 99 g/km CO2 figure.
The Seat Ibiza Ecomotive is powered by the Volkswagen Group's 1.4 litre 3 cylinder TDI turbodiesel engine, which produces 80 PS (59 kW) at 4000 rpm. Thanks to a fairly slippery Cd value of 0.300, the Ibiza Ecomotive also manages a top speed of some 177 km/h - which is phenomenal considering the low fuel consumption of the car.
Seat achieved the incredible economy of this model by working on the aerodynamics of the body, tweaking the engine management software, reducing weight (it's down to 1084 kg from the standard Ibiza 1.4 TDI's 1106 kg), new rims and tyres, and fiddling with the gear ratios.
