Mercedes-Benz have uprated their SLR supercar, and added a bit to the end of its name for good measure, to give us the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition. Unfortunately the "722" in the name doesn't stand for the horsepower it produces, but refers rather to the starting time of the original 300 SLR on the 1955 Mille Miglia, famously won by Stirling Moss and the legendary motoring scribe Dennis Jenkinson. The 722 SLR is strictly a limited-edition version of the "standard" SLR, and only 150 examples will be produced. The engine is slightly warmer than the original, giving 650 PS (478 kW) of power and 820 Nm (605 lbft) of torque. It is enough to cut the 0-100km/h dash down to a claimed 3.6 seconds, and endows the McMerc with a top speed of 337km/h. The exterior has been revised as well, with a more aggressive look to it.
