It is part of Mercedes-Benz's VV 220 family of cars.
Power is produced by a single overhead camshaft, 5 litre naturally aspirated 8 cylinder engine, with 3 valves per cylinder that produces power and torque figures of 301 bhp (305 PS/224 kW) at 5600 rpm and 460 N·m (339 lb·ft/46.9 kgm) at 2700-4200 rpm respectively.
The engine drives the wheels by means of a 5 speed automatic transmission.
