The Maserati Ghibli's engine is a naturally aspirated petrol, 4.7 litre, double overhead camshaft 90 degree V 8 cylinder with 2 valves per cylinder. In this application it has an output of 325 bhp (330 PS/242 kW) of power at 5000 rpm, and maximum torque of 441 N·m (325 lb·ft/45 kgm) at 4000 rpm. It features dry sump-type lubrication.
The engine transfers its power through to the wheels by means of a 3 speed automatic transmission.
